Following an overland trip across Africa a "few" years ago we decided to give up the 9-5 and start a backpackers in Zambia. After staying in loads of places on our travels we decided that we wanted our hostel to be a clean, fun place to stay where you can get great travel advice. We then started our own safaris in Zambia with the principal of "quality safaris at an affordable cost". After all whether you've paid $1000 for a hotel room or a $50 safari tent it’s the same Lion that your looking at.

Using the same principle for our hostels, quality at an affordable price, we've still got Lusaka Backpackers, and now have Johannesburg Backpackers and Cape Town Backpackers.

About Joburg Backpackers
This brand new backpackers is proudly brought to you by the team at Cape Town Backpackers so we really know what we’re doing! We have all of the facilities you would expect from a top quality backpackers including WiFi, and internet access, café and a self-catering kitchen, a comprehensive travel desk, and a great bar to meet fellow travellers.

About the area
Within a 5 minute walk is the popular and funky area of Greenside with its vibrant main road full of great restaurants - from sushi or Indian to the authentic shebeen experience at Mama ’s Shebeen. There are also plenty of trendy cafés, bars, shops and galleries in the area.

Emmarentia is known as the Green Heart of Johannesburg. With the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens and Emmarentia Dam right around the corner there’s plenty of open spaces for walks and picnics. There are also regular outdoor concerts at the Dam where you can catch some famous South African musical talents. Transportation can be arranged to any other attractions in Johannesburg including the museums and shopping centres.
